Andrew Stern
Andrew brings over 35 years of nonprofit expertise and a proven track record of visionary leadership, operational management and compliance, fundraising and finance, board engagement, human resources and strategic planning. He served as Chief Operating Officer and Interim Executive Director for the National Institute for Reproductive Health, an abortion rights organization where he worked for 18 years. He simultaneously served as Board President and Development Chair of the Long Island LGBT Network, an association of nonprofit organizations working to serve the LGBT community of Long Island and Queens throughout their lifespan. During his tenure, his fundraising leadership more than quadrupled the organization’s annual budget.
During much of the height of the AIDS epidemic, Andrew was the Director of State Government Relations and Senior Community Organizer at Gay Men’s Health Crisis, training people living with HIV/AIDS how to lobby their legislators and bringing them to Washington, D.C. to share their stories and advocate for increases in research, care and prevention funding.
His leadership in public policy, political activism and community service spans five decades. He has been the recipient of LIGALY’s Annual Leadership Award, Project Inform’s Partner in Public Policy Activism Award, and AIDS Walk New York’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Community Nexus, a nonprofit that provides alternatives to traditional social safety nets by utilizing modern technology to create professional, educational, and social opportunities for underserved members of local populations. Andrew is also a member of the Association of Nonprofit Specialists. He holds a BA in English from CUNY Hunter College.

Kim Gerstman
Kim Gerstman has almost 30 years of experience in development as an innovative strategist with a successful track record creating and managing diverse fundraising programs.
She started consulting in 2015 and her clients have included the Alpha Workshops, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Center for Constitutional Rights, Citizens Union, Interfaith Center of New York, the Innocence Project, JCCs of North America, Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation, Lantern Community Services, Mobilization for Justice, National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), SCO Family of Services, StoryCorps, Temple Beth Tikvah, and WBGO/Newark Public Radio. She is part of the consulting team of Interim Solutions which provides nonprofit organizations with skilled and experienced development staff – at the Director or VP level – to meet immediate, temporary needs during staff transitions. Her expertise includes major gifts, foundation relations, donor communications, online marketing, direct mail, large-scale campaigns, special events programs, and strategic planning.
Prior to consulting, Kim managed small and large development operations in organizations concerned with global health, the arts, scientific research, social justice and social services. She has held senior development positions with long tenures at the Population Council (2009-2015), American Civil Liberties Union (2003-2009), and NARAL Pro-Choice New York (1994-2003). At Population Council, Kim built a new fundraising program to raise funds from individuals and family foundations and collaborated closely with biomedical and social scientists in the U.S. and 14 developing-country offices. She worked as Director of Major Gifts at the ACLU during a time of immense growth in their annual operating budget and during their Leading Freedom Forward Campaign. As NARAL Pro-Choice New York’s Director of Development, she instituted their special events, foundation grants, and major gifts program, and helped them become a nationally recognized and robust reproductive rights organization. She started her fundraising career at Bailey House (1991-1994) and School of American Ballet (1987-1991).
Kim serves on the Community Organizing Committee of East End Temple in New York and the Northeast Council of IGNITE National. She is a member of Women in Development and the Association of Non-Profit Specialists. She has a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA with a specialization in arts management from Binghamton University.

Kristin Mayo
Kristin Mayo is an experienced leader and problem solver with a background in community development, education, and business technology.
As the founder and CEO of both Community Nexus and Foundational Framework, she is responsible for development, project management, technical assistance and quality assurance. With a BS in International Relations and an MS in Computer Science, Kristin brings a diverse skill set in auditing software, automation, programming, project management, digital marketing, and curriculum development. She is passionate about mentoring and volunteering, particularly in the field of STEM education, an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Kristin brings a strong focus on effective change management and advocates for conscious and humanistic leadership practices to drive successful change initiatives.
