I first became acquainted with Andrew having joined the board of NARAL Pro-Choice New York and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. I always found him highly engaged, competent, responsive and a pleasure to work with. His communications skills are especially worth noting, I’ve always been impressed with his extraordinary writing capabilities. It was not until I became Board Chair, however, that I truly got to know the measure of the person. Andrew is a person of great intelligence, warmth and – most notably – principle and integrity. He quickly became a most trusted advisor and confidante, someone I could always rely on to be a straight shooter and strategic partner. I know firsthand that Andrew went out on several precarious limbs to safeguard the organization and ensure its stability and future. In truth, he put his job on the line to ensure the organization still exists and is thriving today. It may not be the norm for a board and staff member to become close, but Andrew has remained a good friend and respected colleague long after our departures from the organization. Any nonprofit would benefit from his rich level of expertise, his strategic mind and empathetic nature, his high ethical standards and his passionate commitment to the world around him.
